Zaina’s paintings are developed to speak to both her and to others about the darkest and the brightest dregs of people’s minds.
The paintings are just at the intersection of emotion and abstraction. The emerging Emirati artist is more interested in painting facial figures, creating space and distance that feels like the world through individuals’ eyes.
In her painted world, she wants visual plains and geometric shapes to intersect and overlap, forming a sense of visual depth that people can identify with.
Narratives are created to link the artist’s personal perspective and the painting’s storyline to the viewer.
